Huay Luek Royal Project Development Center

History

In 1978, Hmong people migrated from Baan BorLek, Jomthong District, Chiang Mai to Baan Huay Luek because of infertile arable land. Subsequenlty, they submitted to His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej a petition for the grants of land. In 1979, the Royal Project in collaboration with the Royal Forest Department granted degraded forest lands to the Huay Luek Village hill tribes which generally aimed at sustainable management and conservation of forests. After that, more Hmong people from Pa Kea Village, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province and Mae Hong Sorn Province moved to Huay Luek.
