Mae Phae Royal Project Development Center

History

Mae Phae Royal Project Development Center was established in 2001. The center has provided supports for the farmers around the area to grow temperate crops which are suitable for local climate and environment in order to improve their livelihood and conserve the environment.

Mountainous area with plains at the foot of valleys and mountains covering 94,524 rai or approximately 37,371 acres.

Population

More than 4,554 Karen and lowland people live in 10 villages. 


Operation

Mae Phae Royal Project Development Center has encouraged the local farmers in crop production under Food Safety Standard such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The center also supports them in fruit, tea, coffee, field crop cultivation and animal farming. Furthermore, the community engagement to strengthen the local people and their community as well as natural resource and environmental conservation, reforestation project known as “Three Forests, Four Benefits”, vetiver grass growing to reduce soil erosion, chemical use reduction, and contamination monitoring are reinforced by the center. The center has been promoted as a learning center on highland agriculture for students, farmers and other interested people.

Main Products

Royal Project tomato, Japanese cucumber, French bean, eggplant (pear-shaped), avocado, passion fruit and mango.
