



History
When His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great visited remote villages of Pa Miang in 1978, he learned about the sufferings of his people who were tea farmers since the price of tea leaves were going low. Thus, His Majesty King Rama IX gave his personal money to set up a demonstration center for Shiitake Mushroom and Arabica coffee. Later, the center has expanded its work to flowers and fruits to promote career development and to improve quality of life of the locals as well as to encourage self-sufficient communities and to restore and conserve the environment.

It is complex steep mountainous terrain with hilly evergreen forest covering 75,506 rai or 29,852 acres.

There are more than 3,472 Karen and lowland people living in 13 villages.
Operation
At present, Pa Miang Royal Project Development Center has focused on developing and supporting farmers to produce vegetables, fruits and coffee as well as temperate mushrooms and Arabica coffee flower honey under Food Safety Standards like Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to generate their sustainable income and improve their livelihood as well as enhance individual and community strengths. Moreover, with the assistance of Applied Scientific Research Corporation of Thailand, mushroom greenhouse was built to increase the effectiveness of temperate mushroom cultivation. Today the center has become the mushroom cultivation learning center for local farmers and the highland agricultural learning center for students, farmers and other interested people.
Main Products
Passion fruit, cymbidium, potted plants, Assam tea, coffee, mushroom, vanilla, dried flowers and Arabica coffee flower honey.
