



History
Thung Rao Royal Project Development Center has established since 1977 aiming at career development and self-sufficient community development with good quality of life as well as environmental restoration and conservation. With the collaboration of Land Development Department and Royal Irrigation Department, local farmers were allocated land to grow temperate crops for opium poppy and shifting cultivation replacement. Basic community infrastructure was also improved.

The area is mostly plain and steep mountainous terrain covering 8,238 rai or 3,257 acres.

Operation
At present, Thung Rao Royal Project Development Center has set up field demonstration plots and supported farmers in crop production under Food Safety Standard with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in order to generate sustainable income and improve quality of life of the farmers. Furthermore, the center organizes and develops various activities related to education, society and public health to support the community engagement, strengthen the community and improve people’s lives. Regarding the environmental conservation, a few projects such as reforestation project known as “Three Forests, Four Benefits”, soil and water conservation with vetiver grass growing, chemical use reduction campaign, and environmental contamination monitoring campaign have been supported by the center. The center has become a learning center on highland agriculture for students, farmers and others interested people.
Main Products
Miniature rose and rose, sweet pepper, table tomato, Japanese cucumber, chayote, and avocado.
